This was an interesting project for me because for most of the glitch options, there was no feeling of control over what was happening. There was a bit of control to generate the images, but until we got to the Photoshop "glitches" there was no way to know what would happen with the other processes. It was a method of guesswork that was interesting, but incredibly frustrating in the long run.

For the final product, I was far more drawn to Photoshop because I could manipulate it and change everything the way I wanted to rather than leave it completely up to chance. Towards the end, I felt like I better understood how to manipulate parts of the image, but it was a fun way of trial and error before settling on specific pieces.

My work outside of this class revolves around my family. Lately, it has been evolving for my family as they are represented by birds so that I can showcase them without having to dig through old photo albums. In this case, the Anhinga is my mother, the Red-Crowned Crane is my older sister, the Hawk is my older brother, the Owl is my dad, and I am the Bluejay. Glitching them was a nice way for me to depict how we have been dealing with being away from each other, as a family we are fairly close, but we all scattered to the winds after my dad died. Since my dad is represented by the owl, I wanted his to be the least glitched out of all of them. I wanted to change smaller areas and keep most of the image unchanged. For the final owl piece, I decided to only focus on the two owls in the image and make them as unidentifiable as possible to mimic how our memories of the people we lose disappear and deteriorate over time.
